Goal
The goal of the Internship Initiative is to use the OWJEF’s relationships with partner organizations and businesses to connect our former scholarship recipients who are currently in college with paid summer internship opportunities. Through this program, we hope to give college students the opportunity to gain invaluable experience in their career field, connections with vocation mentors, a reputable business to list on their resumes, and much-needed income for the summer.
Our partner organizations benefit from this program as well. They get a competent, character-filled intern who can serve in an apprentice or support role during a portion of the summer, and potentially could be a candidate for employment.
This initiative does not guarantee that there will be internships available with our partner organizations, nor does it guarantee that if an internship is available, our scholar will be hired to fill it. Our goal with this initiative is to connect the scholar with the partner organizations and create opportunities that may not otherwise exist. The Internship Initiative committee will gather information from our previous recipients to determine whether they qualify and their current career path. We will use that information to match the student with a potential partner organization.
