Faith Kelly is breaking barriers (but not bones!). In her freshman year, she’s certainly wasted no time making strides toward her dream of being an orthopedic surgeon. She maintained a 4.0 GPA her entire freshman year, made the President’s List, and was a member of the Arkansas Tech University honors program. She’s also a member of the Med-Track at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Through this program, she’s gained access to mentorship from leaders in healthcare as well as an inside look into the day-to-day operations of the hospital at UAMS. Among many other student resources, the program also provides MCAT study materials to further prepare its members for their future careers in medicine.
She had the opportunity to study abroad in London last May, shadowing at several local hospitals including St. Thomas Hospital and the Royal London Hospital. Faith was able to talk to local healthcare workers about their experiences as well as learn about the differences between healthcare systems in the United States and England.
Faith has also been recognized multiple times for her leadership skills. She was selected to represent her freshman class at the Emerging Leadership Workshop at ATU, and was recently elected to be an officer of the Black Student Association on campus.
Faith is currently a sophomore at Arkansas Tech University studying Pre-Allied Health.
Keep up the good work, Faith!
